Aiburobhaat – traditionally the last meal a bride has at her parents place before marriage, its a feast befitting a queen – a parade of quintessential Bengali favorites starting with the bitter sweet shukto ending at the mishti doi and paan, not to mention the motley of fish and prawn delicacies and of course the fish head curry.
My sister in law is all set to embark on a new journey, Jiten is one the finest gentlemen I have met and we wish them the very best.
She is dressed in a Banarasi today, an august purple complimented by a stunning green, an endearing combination found in Banarasis a good century ago , though not sure how easily one would encounter this today.
I wear a dark brown mekhla with elaborate golden threadwork. A gift from my friends I left back in Assam when I got married. Very special for me.
