Koninika . That’s my daughter. It was her birthday yesterday and I know she would have loved this Saree if we went out to celebrate.

Since she’s not here I wore it for the Diwali paahat in our society. We had a five piece orchestra : a young Jaltarang player, a mandolin, a flute and mouth organ, keyboards and tabla …. And what lovely tunes they played from popular semi classical , Hindi, Marathi film and light music.

And that was followed by our family ritual, going to the Kelkars for Diwali breakfast. Aditi Ishan Kelkar, thanks! Mugdha Gokhale-Kelkar missed you …. And Juili Marathe you ought to have joined us a little earlier than your time! Golden Saree moment lost!

This is a buy from Kaushiki’s again : a half and half, on chanderi cotton and some weaving in blue-green, and embroidery. I had seen it in red and black but I told her to make this combination for me! Loved to turn heads in the society grounds with the boat-neck blouse Mythili Iyer stitched for me! Preeta Nilesh thanks for the birthday gift jewellery set!
