The last day of Diwali!! And what a day it was!! Bhau beej – started with a not so hectic morning, lunch at my mavashi’ place with delicious food prepared by Mavashi, Amma and Sarita Pansare Akka!! The extended lunch ended in a musical mehfil, followed by tea!! I just love such get togethers, which end in musical sessions, be it bhajans, light classical music or even film songs!! Many a get togethers in my side of the family end on a melodious note!! Of course my sister and even niece supported me in the pact by wearing sarees!! Then was the ‘aarati ritual’ for my brother, being bhau beej. The evening had another such get together with older neighbours, actually extended family!! The sarees – a green silk saree designed by Amma; we bought the beautiful border together and she bought the fabric to make the saree. The border has lovely peacock feather motifs embroidered throughout. The other one is a beautiful kanjeevaram saree in a chutney green colour with a royal blue zari border and grand pallu. Bought this one in chennai many years ago when visiting for Gayathri Subramanian’s wedding!!
