Since childhood, almost since I remember, I have fasted for ‘chaturthi’ every month. At my parents place, Ganapati being the family deity, it’s an established thing and no other food is prepared that day except ‘upvas food’. Earlier it was more of a change in food and so delicious at that with Amma’s cooking. Post marriage, in my husband’s side of the family ‘Karwa chaut’ is also observed with the associated fast and puja etc. The vrat got a new filmy dimension yesterday with some of us friends getting together for the puja and celebrating it the ‘ famous way’!! A very busy day at work, puja with Shilpa Bhabi and Neha in the evening and culmination in another round of puja, good food, lots of chatting with friends and Anu’s filter coffee to top it all!! The sarees today – all red, first a chiffon saree with the traditional bandhej print, a lehriya with lappi Gota border and work on the saree (with thewa jewellery) and the last one a chettinadu cotton saree with khun blouse from dear Lakshmi Sudarshan’s kalpavastram!! Teamed that one with temple jewellery!
