#29 My favorite fish saree with an interesting tale 🙂

Relatively new, I picked this up at an exhibition about a year and a half back. It was love at first sight with this red and black matka silk beauty, with multicolored fish swimming in gradually increasing waves along the border. One look and I fell for it hook, line and sinker!

Here is the tale of the day I first draped this saree. I was impatient to wear it, and as there was no occasion in sight, I draped it just like that for a day at work. Turned out that one of our Business Units had same evening organized a fun day show casing their in-house talent. I had been invited, but had forgotten all about it. Not wanting to disappoint the folks I decided to show up for just a while towards the end of the work day, and then quietly slip out. So I went there but just as I was planning to slip out, one of the organisers approached me with a can you do us a favor smile. Against my best instincts I agreed. And so I landed the part of being the show stopper for their fashion show !!!! I have never even been backstage for a fashion show, forget the ramp, I protested. With that saree, we couldn’t possibly let you go just like that, said they.

So that was me and my fish saree both walking the ramp for the first time; the saree basking in the spotlight while I was trying hard not to look too much the embarrassed last minute show stopper 🙂
