32/100 – This is my mom’s plain blue chiffon from her wedding trousseau which she got embroidered with silver zari before adding it into mine. I wore it to work and then to a Tihar ‘nakhatya’ at my mom’s bother’s place.

‘Nakhatya’ is an appendage to any festival in Newar community. It’s a special invite to married daughters of the family to come back home, eat and relax because they missed the ‘real’ festival. What I love about this tradition is the obvious affection that is shown towards daughters, an opportunity to visit her ‘thachen” (her home) and unwind after the festival which is obviously tiring for women of the house.‬ Also, ended the day with accompanying the husband to the second day of ‪#‎kartiknach‬ at Mangalbazar where the photo was taken.
