On a Diwali day first thing that comes to my memory is the early mornings in the huge family house at Kochi where head of the family used to be my Grand mom! She used to wake us, the kids, up even before the sun rise, and would apply lot of oil on our heads and ask us to head towards the big bathroom complex …yes, now I feel it was a complex in itself where there used to be a fire place to heat the water for bathing, two bathrooms and two toilets other than a dressing room! Well then our aunts would make us bath while mom used to be busy in the kitchen! We were made to wear crispy new frocks or pavadai(gagro as we call in Konkani). Then the Pooja and a temple visit…
Keeping up with the tradition I follow a minimum that is practical here in Delhi too…today was no different. Went to Krishna temple at Rajendra Nagar in the morning. Wore this new saree gifted to me by my niece.
