Recently my sis and I spent a few days together at my parents place. We had loads of fun; eating, chatting, shopping together after a long time. Di was excited to hear about the pact, and urged me to go all for it. From there came the idea of going through Mom’s treasure chest of sarees – some lucky enough to enjoy the place of pride in her wardrobe, some basking in the luxury of storage elsewhere and few other delights who have over the years been forgotten in some bag or “potli” somewhere.

And what fun we had searching through these piles and uncovering the hidden treasures therin. We went down memory lane with each of the sarees, remembering Mom draping them….. in case of the not so old ones remembering when and who bought them and from where… the stories making all these sarees real treasures…. We found old ones and also a few interesting new ones that had somehow been kept aside for another day…. Maybe for the “matching” blouse piece to be bought, or waiting for an occasion, or maybe just that they did not feel right then…

We picked out a range of sarees from these, all of these treasures now mine to weave fresh stories into! Thank you Anju, Ally and all the inspirational ladies on the pact for suddenly making my wardrobe so much bigger, better and full of love and nostalgia.

#22 – a handloom silk cotton from the treasure chest. The weave has fine orange and red lines creating a traditional checked pattern. Pallu though not visible in the pic has a nice block print with flowers and green creepers. Border is subtle in black and dull gold lined with a delicate green creeper. Unfortunately could not get a full pic in the busy day, just managed this selfie!

Matched it with one of my fav kalamkari blouses and a fav neckpiece bought on a trip many years ago.
