Day 1 of #100sareepact. March 24th, 2015.

Wore a Lucknow chikan sari and kantha embroidered blouse. Mixed and matched 2 beautiful, traditional Indian embroidery styles.

I lived in Lucknow between 1991 and 1997 and loved the place for its charm, culture, food and of course, Chikankari. I have always got fond memories of my time there and wearing clothes embroidered with the delicate Chikankari styles of shadow work or tepchi, bring a smile to my face. The embroidery done on gauzy materials like organza, kota, chiffon, georgette, mulmul etc, make Chikankari a favoured and fashionable option for summer wear.

Kantha embroidery, on the other hand, is from my home state of West Bengal and this outfit is a compliment to a state I enjoyed living in and another state where I was born and raised.
