Many women, and several men too, in my organization, follow the Navratri colours. It is great fun to be a part of this community tradition and enjoy the many shades and hues of the colour of the day. I looked up the significance of these colours. Each day of navratri is associated with an aspect of Devi and has a specific colour ascribed to it. This year, the colour for day-1 is red. It is associated with Durga and signifies one who is always in action.

I chose this beautiful red and parrot green Kanjivaram, which was my mother’s before she gave it to me some years ago. It has very little jari and the temple design above the border.

Red for Action! Happy Navratri to all fellow pacters.
