My personal saree pact last 3 years has been to wear sarees practically daily between Navratri and Diwali. This has been my own way of airing my favorites and always brings me right into the festive mood as well.

This year, with the 100sareepact, this becomes even more exciting as I also get to share the stories behind these sarees and for the first time, extending this to a 100 sarees instead of the usual ~30!! Thus began today, and I chose to tee off the first day of Navratri in the color of the day, red. So here is my traditional Maharashtrian Narayan Peth, a deep red with a green border.

A very popular saree specially in Pune, and I bought this several years ago as the color was so radiant and as I thought at that time, not very common. This used to be an old favorite and I draped it quite a few times to weddings and festive occasions, including the one oops moment when one of my neighbors and I turned up at the same wedding in identical sarees :-):-) Since then this has been lying in my wardrobe until I picked it up again today (and anyways I have not seen my neighbor wear her saree either in these many years :-))
