My wedding Benarasi, worn again for sheer joy and emotional attachment. We wear yellow and not red, for our vedic rituals in UP. It is known as a Piyari (literally meaning yellow cloth). I decided to include my favourite blue in the mix as I didn’t want to be one of the thousands wearing a yellow-red saree. It wasn’t the typical traditional choice for a piyari, but I’ve always been one to add my own touch to a tradition 🙂
The jewels are since locked away and replaced with imitation jewellery, but I still retain the most cherished heirloom maangteeka, and my red dupatta. Taken out to relive the memories 🙂
