Saree #18

Finally this saree from my trousseau saw the light of the day, and what a wonderful day to wear it-my husband’s birthday!

It was a very hectic day which started with the usual weekend chores. Around lunch time, my mother-in-law and I decided to make a trip to the jewellery store, a new Malabar Gold showroom in KL to check out something we’d seen and liked earlier. As soon as we decided that, there was an excitement to finish off lunch quickly, get everything in order and run! Indian women–can never have enough gold 😉 !

All this while, the birthday boy was out with his friend to watch a Queens concert at the Philharmonic Orchestra in KL! Thus, he enjoyed himself as well thoroughly, while the two ladies were out jewellery browsing! It took us more time than expected there, rushed back to bake a cake–a chocolate rum cake–husband’s farmaish! Sent him to the weekly night market to buy the fruit and veggies while I finished off the cake. Multi-tasking at its best was the call of the hour.

Then hurriedly we got dressed in our sarees to cut the cake and head out to dinner! Overall, a very fun but tiring day.

About the saree– it’s a cotton silk, woven, two-toned wonder from Meena Bazaar, New Delhi–my brother and I got married within three months of each other, so we were out shopping for my sister-in-law when I saw this gorgeous saree! Encouraged by mom and brother, I gladly picked it up to make it a part of my trousseau!
