Being the Independence week, I thought of dedicating my posts to my life in the Army and at the same time give all my fellow pacters a glimpse of my present home.
So many years into my marriage. .I have come to realise that the most certain thing in the life of a ‘fauji family’ is uncertainty and this uncertainty actually brings excitement and adds flavour to our lives. Sudden postings, separations, anxiety of packing ones house so frequently, kids changing almost five schools in ten years and also as many cities. But the pride of being part of the second largest army in the world surpasses all.
We are all aware of the role of the army be it in ambushes….insurgencies….terrorist attacks. …floods…earthquakes….but what is the role of an army wife?
Well, as her husband’s confidante, sounding board, cheerleader she remains the unsung backbone on which the morale of the men in uniform rests. She has to act both as mother and father when the men are posted in distant places. She also learns not only to take ,but also give a part of herself graciously to this organisation.
As a young girl who was welcomed into the army family with warmth enveloped in a mist of friendly overtures by those around…I have now begun to realize the worth of this unique family . There is an old saying,” Women hold up half the sky”. We are definitely holding it up for our Heroes.
This saree is my second Byloom . Another quirky one added to the wardrobe. My fellow pacters Kavita and Parama have already worn it with much more grace and elan. I wore this today for a school trip to the War Memorial in the wake of upcoming Independence Day.
