Woke up to an overcast sky and what looked like a dull morning on Tuesday last, but I wanted to feel bright and vibrant. Especially as after work, I had a very interesting program to attend that evening at the SP Jain Institute. A few of us, four women to be precise are part of a program to mentor a group of 20 women entrepreneurs and the evening program was to introduce the program to the mentees and introduce us all to each other, followed by chai and nashta. From the profiles that I had read of each of these 20 women, they were surely path breakers for social enterprise! Their business ideas were unique and innovative, ranged from providing cancer care for infants, and promoting sustainable rural tourism to taxi services for and by women, to promoting urban farming by helping city residents to grow their own food and medicine, to ecommerce and manufacture of sustainable clothing…etc etc. I could simply go on here. It was going to be very exciting as I could foresee. I wanted to make sure I enjoyed every moment of the whole process of meeting these gutsy women entrepreneurs! I decided to wear this vibrant and colourful crepe silk saree and I have to admit, I felt good in it. More than anything else, the meeting proved to be all that it promised and more. I now look forward to the engagement process and mentoring sessions of this program.
