Deconstructing the Saree – The Bindi

The bindi or pottu is slowly becoming my statement look for a saree. I have experimented with the long teardrop shapes, intricately drawn works of art, and in the recent past, these big round ones. Each type of bindi gives the face and the whole ensemble such a unique look. The only type I really can’t carry off is the little itsy-bitsy bindis… I prefer a big one. So whether it is attending my daughter’s Rhyme time in school or meeting a friend face-to-face for the first time or busy work days or even a quick trip to the fish market, here are saree numbers 23 and 24 of the #100sareepact, accompanied by the bindi.

For those who would like to donate their sarees, I am collecting sarees to hand over to Goonj for their Saree for Dignity collection drive. Do PM me for more details on how you can help. Thank you!
