6/100
I must confess that my likeliness of wearing sarees, that too many time a week now, is kindled by the 100sareepact. Otherwise these sarees would have seen the world around once in every quarter or even longer. We generally await a special occasion to wear sarees, like a festival or Ethnic day at work. However the trendsetters Anju Maudgal Kadam and Ally Matthan have changed it all. The special occasion wear now is worn with so much ease and almost everyday. Now people ask me if I don’t wear one and also my friends at work are helping me enumerate the sarees and helping me reach 100. The journey is long and I don’t even have that many sarees. Nonetheless, its a beautiful journey and I hope I will be able to incorporate many handloom variants in this journey.
The saree in the picture is a handloom cotton saree quite popular in the Eastern India. She was gifted by my mother. She has great sense of sarees and in general very simple yet elegant sense of style. I have grown up seeing her envious saree trousseau. Almost 70% of my sarees are either her’s or gifted by her. Now coming back to my saree, I like her because she is so vibrant and even extremely comfortable to wear especially on a busy work day.
