Its been a while since I have posted and visited the site, but coming back to find so many more people on here is super inspirational for me.
Sari no. 3 and 4: These saris were worn during NABC2015 (Bengali Conference aka Banga Sammelan) at Houston. I was there with the better half and my father in law, who simply loved all the cultural offerings of singing, poetry reading and enacted dramas amongst many other performances.
To the left is a Debarun Mukherjee tussar sari bought from NDTVs Indianroots.com. I have been aching to wear this for a while. I bought it on their site, and the blouse was stitched, packed, sealed delivered all within 5 days – a shout out to the Indianroots.com folks- as an Indian living abroad I have to resort to these means often to get my hands on Indian weaves. Technology has made it simpler, but nearly does not replace the cherished experiences of going to a sari store to peruse and buy these gorgeous weaves.
To the right also, is another sari bought from Indianroots, its a cotton Mangalgiri sari. I bought it specifically to team it with my bold and colorful blouse and teamed it with Outhouse jewelry- I must confess , there’s simply nothing more gratifying to me these days than to stare dreamily at saris and think of ways to pair it up with different blouses and accessories. Either I am getting older rather quick, or a trip home is soon due 🙂
