This is the lightest saree that I have. Blue leheriya print ,it was so light that I could not drape it properly ,so I thought putting a border to give some weight …..one inch silver border and some silver pieces added some weight but still it is the lightest saree that I have…from where I bought it this is also a story …..i was at my mom’s place means in Luknow it was June 2001 I was reading the news paper n someone knocked at the door …..a man standing with a polythene in the hand…….what???…..didi kuch saree hai dekh lo ……saree in this small polythene ???? I was confused …..by the time he took out 4-5 lehariya print saree tie like a duppatta …..i still remember the colors one this blue….yellow….green …..orange…I picked this blue …..ya this is first blue saree ……I picked this because I did’nt had a blue saree that time…So in this way this saree became a part of my closet …..my first lightest lehariya and first blue saree……
Lehariya is a traditional art of dyeing with tie and dye process in Rajasthan…we all know lehariya is the name given because of its pattern ……zigzag pattern of irregular color stripes is a visual invocation of the flow of water……….no small wonder that the blues in lehriya attract the eyes instinctively …….!!!
So this is the story about this blue saree. This pic is clicked by my daughter totally under her guidance with lots of instructions ….see there…keep the saree like this….wear this neckpiece …….silver bangles….etc etc etc
Thanks dear Shivi with loads of lov…….Daughters are the biggest blessings of our life!!!! With this saree I would like to quote JAVED AKHTAR ‘s following lines…..they are my favorite……I have taken the post title from these lines only……
Pighlay neelam sa behta hua yeh sama,
Neeli neeli si khamoshiyan;
Na kahin hai zameen,
Na kahin aasmaan;
Sarsaraati hui leheren;
Keh rahi hain ki bas ek tum ho yahaan,
Sirf main hoon, meri saansein hain, aur meri dhadkanein;
Aisi gehraiyaan,
Aisi tanhaiyaan,
Aur main sirf main
Apne honay pe mujhko yaqeen aa gaya…
