\nWas pleasantly surprised to see that Jyothika is making a comeback to Tamizh movies, through 36 Vayadhinile. Watched a couple of promos on Sun TV and realized it is a remake of a Malayalam movie ‘How old are you?’ Coincidentally, it was also the comeback movie of Manju Warrier, the heroine in the Malayalam original. Jyothika couldn’t have made a better choice of a story line. The movie focus is all about women empowerment, making tough choices, breaking the pre-set societal norms and succeeding in the choices that one makes. The Malayalam original saw some powerful acting by Manju and her classmate who is a seasoned corporate professional, Kanika, who encourages Manju to go revert to her fire-in-the-belly, youngster that she was. Am sure Jyothika performance will match, if not better it.
\nWhen Jyothika announced her taking a break, after marriage vows with heartthrob Surya, after Sillinu Oru Kaadhal, it broke my heart. I love Jyothika’s acting. I almost wrote a letter to Surya asking him to retire as well, since he was also getting married, and to her FIL Sivakumar, asking him to get rid of his old fashioned thinking.
\nHere’s to Jyothika’s success in her comeback venture, through a movie produced by hubby dearest Surya. Now that is a thoughtful gift from a loving husband, what say girls?
