And, I also rarely wear any of them. I love to wear saris, and wear them as often as possible, but living in California I don’t have too many occasions to swap my jeans for something nicer. So after watching for a few weeks I have decided to join the pact.

This was the first sari I chose, and it is one of my “go-to” saris – one of the ones that I love and wear more than others. This was a Karva Chauth gift from my Father in Law. He, like my husband, is a man of impeccable taste. Both father and son know exactly what fabrics, patterns and colors will look best on mother and wife, and while I would never pick out red for myself, this is too beautiful to not wear whenever the opportunity presents itself. My Mother told me the significance of the print, I believe it is an Ikat, and unlike before I am very, very interested in the different weaves, patterns, and backgrounds of the saris I own.

I took this on my patio in front of our Tulsi trees, one of which was a Karva Chauth gift from my husband early in our marriage. I specifically wanted that to be the backdrop of my first picture submitted to the #100sareepact!

I, like many of you, have a closet filled with saris that were part of my trousseau, given as gifts, picked up on impulse.
