My maternal side of the family is our Rawal clan. My Mum was number 8 of 10 siblings and the clan is very much spread around India and all around the globe, however, it’s a very closeknit family. There are now 3rd and 4th generations and with the advance of technology and communication we all keep in touch on a daily basis through the various social media platforms.
\nThe wedding was that of my 90 year old Mama’s granddaughter’s in Pune and being in the UK, I was given a year’s notice to book my holiday. We all descended on Pune in February 2015. My niece looked stunning, as every bride should. Although I have been able to visit my extended family in India on a fairly regular basis in the past few years, this was only the second wedding I was attending in 15 years so you can imagine how exciting it was for me!
\nI love taking pictures and so there I was very early in the morning, taking pictures of everything in and around the Hotel where the wedding ceremony was taking place. I didn’t realise that as I was taking pictures of the garlanded entrance where the ” Barrat” would be received with all the pomp and ceremony in an hour so, the official photographer had taken my picture.
\nI had bought this Bengali Balicharu saree in 2013 from Ahmedabad and hadn’t had the chance to wear it so what better occasion to wear it than this one?! It’s a gorgeous silk saree with the gold colour and embroidered pallu. I love rich, traditional silk sarees. I shall remember this very special occasion for a very long time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
This was the wedding of the year and I was there!
