\u202a#\u200e100sareepact\u202c Day 19. Today’s sari was decided by two factors….First, I had two completely contrasting engagements and second, I let an accessory decide what I would wear. The jade bracelet is a gift from my sister-in-law Sarmistha Sarcar. She got it for me from China last year. Much as I loved it, I scolded her too. For not buying anything for herself. But soon I was busy pairing it with a pair of earrings I have owned for a long time. It’s a gift from my cousin Arjun Sen but of course he knew nothing about it! It’s his mother and my aunt Dolon Sen who bought it for me on his behalf. As a teenager, he was my hero but he was often too busy with his friends to give me enough attention or time, or so I thought. So my aunt and my uncle would always try to make amends, urging him to reply to my letters or asking him to skip a party if I was spending my vacation with them. Now, of course things have changed… every Rakhi he sends me money, which he calls his “blessings”. But when he forgets to wish me on my birthday, he still says “I wished you in my heart, didn’t you hear?”. Some things never change and my love for my dearest Dada will never change as well.
\nFrom mush to matchmaking…earrings and bracelet perfectly paired, I embarked on my sari hunt and settled for this Dhonekhali from Sarmistha’s wardrobe. Sober enough for a memorial I had to attend and elegant enough for a lunch date with my office team. A kotki blouse (the piece was a gift from my cousin Sudeshna Ghosh… Again from Puri, Bengali’s never tire of the place!) added a little bit of colour and contrast.
