\nMarch 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day and what better way to grace a “Your’s Truly” event than to express oneself in traditional attire that makes every woman look magical. I pulled out a Chikankari (Lucknowi) saree – this one has a special story attached to it. About 7 years ago, during one of our India trips, my husband Sonu bought this saree for me. I had fallen in love with this piece, the minute I laid my eyes on it but the sticker shock and fear of “mom” (how am I going to justify the price)held me from buying it. Hubby decided to splurge and charged it to his credit card (don’t I love plastic)….this way mom would not know. This was his very first saree shopping experience which dug deep holes in his pocket….but made wifey very very very happy. And surprisingly even mom thought it was a “great buy”. I did not have the nerve to hide it from mom. The saree is so intricately hand embroidered that every time I wrap myself in it, I feel the love and hardwork of the artisans who probably spent months working on this piece.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
