Eleven years back, I attended my first business conference, though as one of the organizing team and not a participant yet. I realized I didn\u2019t have any formal sarees, just wrap and go ones.<br \/>\nSo, I set out to buy my first silk\u00a0<span class=\"highlightNode\">saree<\/span>. I went on at the shop like a broken r<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">ecord rejecting everything, No prints, Nothing bright, no sequins, no this no that! Finally the salesman brought this out, a very frequently rejected<span class=\"highlightNode\">saree<\/span>\u00a0I heard as it was black and dull. Where I come from, we don\u2019t wear black for an auspicious occasion, so a black silk\u00a0<span class=\"highlightNode\">saree<\/span>\u00a0with a dull grey border didn&#8217;t have too many takers.<br \/>\nBut it was perfect for me, and I still love it for those occasions of conference or dais presentations, though I am not doing too many of them anymore<br \/>\n(People at work still look at me like I am not wearing anything, maybe a few more sarees and they will learn to accept it)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the first silk\u00a0saree\u00a0I bought.
