This is one of my favourite sarees in my favourite colour but the only catch was – it wasn’t mine. It was lying in my mother’s cupboard for years while I secretly had an eye on it. Finally, when I was looking for a saree to wear to my cousin’s engagement, I asked my mother in the sweetest way possible whether I could borrow it. The answer was a stubborn NO. Then came the next step – beg. No amount of ‘pleases’ helped as she carefully rolled it and threw it somewhere into the cupboard behind piles of clothes. In the end, the last resort – steal! I stole it while she was getting ready and she had a last minute surprise seeing me start for the function in her blue saree.
