\n‘tan’ meaning three as Parsis pronounce it, and Chhoi is from the Chinese master of
\nShanghai, who taught this art to three Joshi brothers belonging to a family of
\nweavers in Surat who were sent to China sponsored by First Baronet Jamsetji
\nJeejeebhoy around 1856 AD. After learning the skill, they came back to Gujarat and
\ntrained the weavers in the technique and then innovated the Tanchoi weaving
\ntechnique into Indian versions.<\/p>\n
