Hmmm….

A little nostalgia then, with #58: a cotton karnataki kashida (kasuti) hand embroidered saree, bought at an exhibition few years back. I have been a fan of this embroidery style ever since I saw the handwork done by my neighbour Pai kaku, who is an expert on this. This one was a simple but classic pick and I have loved draping it for traditional events. Not a very easy drape though, as it crumples quite easily 🙁

The saree comes in 4 colors, in horizontal stripes. Half is a deep navy blue, and the rest three stripes in green, grey and maroon, ending in a golden border. All very earthy colors, but the highlight of course is the embroidery of peacocks, trees, cocks, etc. all over the saree. The pic goes back a bit, draped this to a colleague’s wedding that I went to from work, and hence wanted something sober. Have been meaning to post this one but kept putting it off.

No posts for a long while and I am missing my sarees:-( New challenges on the work front leading to a lot of travel to cooler climes.
