‘Nakhatya’ is an appendage to any festival in Newar community. It’s a special invite to married daughters of the family to come back home, eat and relax because they missed the ‘real’ festival. What I love about this tradition is the obvious affection that is shown towards daughters, an opportunity to visit her ‘thachen” (her home) and unwind after the festival which is obviously tiring for women of the house.\u202c Also, ended the day with accompanying the husband to the second day of \u202a#\u200ekartiknach\u202c at Mangalbazar where the photo was taken. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
