This was saree number 7\/100 of #100sareepact, worn by me way back in  July this year &#8211; a monochromatic Bagru print on soft mulmul.<br \/>\nSome years back, I was on a short break from work in New Delhi and visited my friend and NIFT senior, Saumya at her lovely home. On a hot summer afternoon, she looked a vision in an earthy hued kalamkari sari. I was so taken by the elegance of her handloom sari, that the next day when I chanced upon some striking cotton saris at Fabindia&#8217;s N-Block market store, I picked up two. This, when I hardly ever wore saris back then and not even to weddings!<br \/>\nThis is one of the two saris I picked up that day and the other one will make an appearance too, on the pact. The stark simplicity of the sari makes me channel a completely different personality and I like that.<br \/>\nWorn with a blouse in grey and black khadi from Fabindia (surprisingly funkily designed, given its provenance) and a Tholu Bommalata pendant in contrasting red, black and white, from Andhra Pradesh (a traditional style of leather puppet-making, from Telangana).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Catching up with my backlog of posts on the blog.
