The third of my really all day favourite Conference wear Tussar Silk\/Cottons ; this one in a lovely burnt orange with an Ash Gold border … Stays totally uncrushed all day and drapes like a dream . Two qualities I look for in my good wear to work sarees .
\nYesterday the fourth day that was spent totally indoors was the toughest . An Advisory Board meeting on unmet needs of patients facing diagnosis of some touch cancers that needed to have one alert and engaged all through .
\nWe all welcomed the tea break and the chance to network with each other and catch up with old friends and peers in advocacy work .
\nKathy is someone I have known ever since I became deeply involved in the work we do at The Max Foundation . A very important and pathbreaking aspect of that work is the setting up of patient support groups and she has been a very important part of our meetings and conferences that fosters these groups and their management . Her years of experience and her sensitive understanding of the needs of all the partners in exercises like this makes her an invaluable resource person .
\nIt was a beautiful day outside and we took full advantage of the Bangkok skyscape on display …after days of rain and cloud cover .
\nThe patient leaders and my colleagues , my wonderful Saree Pact photographers these last few days , you see them all on this last day as we said goodbye to each other and Bangkok .
\nSo my last four sarees stories have been from this city , the city of Silk and Batik and their own Ikkat and some beautiful weaves .
\nHad to stop by at Jim Thompson’s and pick up a couple of handcrafted gems . If you haven’t heard of JT please look him up . The story is incredibly awe inspiring and tragic . Jim Thompson is single handedly responsible for setting up a sort of Co Op venture for Thai weavers and promoting their craft and supporting their livelihood . He made his home here in Bangkok ( a beautiful , unique masterpiece and heritage home) . One day he left on some kind of a trip into the interiors of the country , it is said, never to return …
