This is the first year since I have started working that I will not get my grandmother a saree for Pujo. I will be getting her a nightgown, instead. Because, a sudden sickness three months ago, has her almost bed-ridden&#8230; And unable to manage a saree&#8230;<br \/>\nI will not write about Dimmai today. Because, I will try and drape her in a saree one day, take a photograph for the pact, and then write about her.<br \/>\nThis day, I wore to office this saree I had gifted her five Pujos back. It&#8217;s a Kerala kasavu my aunt got from Bangalore and which I then got printed at Kanishka, my one-and-only and a design house without parallel when it comes to block prints. This print is in shades of blue ranging from turquoise to Prussian. An aside &#8211; when borders are so wide &#8211; half of the saree in width &#8211; it&#8217;s called a &#8216;skirt&#8217; border in Kolkata.<br \/>\nThe saree served me well &#8211; keeping me cool through the office day &#8211; and reminding me that though it was a nightie I had to buy for her, it would have to be fine cotton, white and with the most elegant of motifs.
